"He" asked me to contribute my thoughts on the new anti-terror laws. "He" seemed genuinely interested in my views and the contribution I could make as a Labour Party member in 'shaping key policy.' All "e" said I had to do to achieve this was click on a simple link. Lo and behold, the link took me to a srvey which asked wonderfully all encapsulating questions like 'do you think that since july 7th there has been the need to tighten terrorism laws?' and 'do you think we should prevent terrorism?' Brilliant. Absolute genius. The questions were such that I doubt many people really could have hit the 'no' button, yet it does not at all vindicate his stupid terrorism bill.

still, given that several libdem and tory mps couldn't be bothered to turn up and vote against the bill that got passed by only one vote - and the fact that george gallway (that staunch defender of human liberty and human rights, who is against anything to do with iraq or labour) didn't vote becaue 'he had a speaking engagement' - I suppose I shouldnt really criticise the lowering of already low standards in the world of politics.
